All transmissions suffer their greatest torque reactions changing from 1st to 2nd gears so these are the first to go. It's a toss-up whether to take it to a Peugeot dealer or to a member of www.fedauto.co.uk I'd favour the latter.

No 5's post does little to convince anyone a 207 GTI is as or more reliable than an Integra Type R (which the 207 should be, of course). Not sure when I said it was more reliable than any other car. I simply stated my experience with it and like most cars, some of the common problems they can have.
